The modern Indian women true to her all encompassing roles of Durga and Saraswati recently accomplished a unique feat by conducting an 'adventure patrol' in the North Eastern Frontiers. The Indian Army assembled an all women team comprising 18 young, motivated, adventurous officers and soldiers from the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and ITBP.
This team, after rigorous training, etched a name for itself in the annals of history by becoming the maiden all women team to accomplish adventure patrolling in the Mighty Himalayas of Arunachal Pradesh.
The spirited young women underwent training which encompassed physical conditioning exercises, basic lessons on mountaineering, jungle survival and motivation. The fully kitted and self sustained patrol led by an Indian Army Woman Officer was launched on August 10 2019 from Kibithu, Anjaw District of Arunachal Pradesh and the adventurous route involved testing ones navigation skills in difficult terrains criss-crossing streams and dense forests.
The joint team of women officers and soldiers from Army and Para Military Forces displayed high standards of morale, motivation and resolve during the adventure patrol. The women in uniform exhibited the tremendous potential of 'girl power' by showcasing their grit and determination and truly epitomized “Women Empowerment” in the 73rd year of our Nation’s Independence.
Lieutenant General MM Naravane, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC- in-C, Eastern Command lauded the grit, professionalism and determination of the women participants. He further highlighted that such events showcase the synergy that exists between the Security Forces deployed in the North East and give strength to our nation.
