Arunachal | Changlang Forest Department Organizes Mass Tree-Plantation Drive

Changlang, July 2, 2019:

With an intent to make Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang township engulfed with greenery, all sections of people led by Deputy Commissioner R. K Sharma yesterday commenced the plantation of various species of medicinal and ornamental trees like Siris, Rain Tree, Gamari, Ajhar, Gulmohar, Amlokhi, Bokul, Jamun, Nahar etc.

Marking the week long tree plantation festival 'Vanmahotsava', the event was organized by Department of Environment & Forest at Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang.

The HoDs, administrative officers, officers, public officials and hundreds of uniform clad students took active part in the plantation drive.

Reminding the gathering about their duty and responsibility to protect mother earth, Deputy Commissioner R. K Sharma, while sensitising urged them to plant trees to guarantee cleaner and greener tomorrow.

"Every individual must realize that it is their solemn duty to contribute in making the environment safe and friendly and the only sure success mantra is planting trees", Sharma said.

Speaking on the origin and importance of the festival, the Divisional Forest Officer D Lendo said that the festival instils an awareness of tree plantation among the people and represents the need of planting and nursing trees.

Planting trees is one of the best methods to limit global warming and diminishing pollution, the DFO added.

RFO Kamrop Kanglom informed that the festival will be observed throughout the week by planting trees in various locations of the district.

Posters and banners were also seen displayed in prominent places in the Changlang township area.
