Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his delight today after engaging in discussions with Walter Russell Mead and a delegation from the United States, with a focus on exploring potential initiatives for the northeastern state. The meeting aimed at identifying avenues for collaboration in various sectors that could bring growth and development to Arunachal Pradesh.

Khandu highlighted the state’s immense potential stating that the delegation’s upcoming visit will offer them a chance to experience the unique tribal culture and the stunning natural beauty of Arunachal’s high mountain regions. “I am looking forward to their visit, where they will experience firsthand the vibrant culture of our indigenous communities and the breathtaking landscapes of our mountains,” Khandu said.

The Chief Minister also noted that such interactions are vital in strengthening ties with global partners, which will play a significant role in opening up new opportunities for the state. Khandu expressed optimism that these initiatives would contribute to the state's socio-economic development, fostering closer international collaboration in fields such as tourism, culture, and infrastructure.

Walter Russell Mead (born June 12, 1952) is a prominent American academic known for his expertise in foreign affairs. He currently serves as the James Clarke Chace Professor of Foreign Affairs and Humanities at Bard College and has previously taught American foreign policy at Yale University. Mead is also the editor-at-large of The American Interest magazine and a columnist for The Wall Street Journal. In addition, he is a scholar at the Hudson Institute and a book reviewer for Foreign Affairs, a leading foreign policy journal published by the Council on Foreign Relations.
