Arunachal: GOC Spears Calls on Governor to Discuss Security Measures

Itanagar, March 10, 2020: 

Lieutenant General RP Kalita has called on to the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Dr. BD Mishra (Retd.) to discuss the prevailing security situation in the Northeastern state and the border areas.

The high level meeting held at Raj Bhawan in Arunachal Pradesh's Itanagar, apprised the Governor of measures that are being taken by the Indian Army in order to achieve a long lasting peace and normalcy in the region.

The Governor appreciated the armed forces for their dedication and lauded their selfless sacrifices for the people of Arunachal Pradesh. The overall security aspects related to the region and its connectivity with the border areas were also discussed.

Governor BD Mishra took to Twitter to inform that the high level civil-military commanders meeting was successfully conducted "to thwart menace of extortion by insurgent groups in Tirap, Changlang and Longding Districts."

He added that the meeting yielded productive results and "immediate civil, police and security unified measures will be taken to prevent extortion menace.
