Local MLA Takam Pario while addressing the land affected people of Palin township by TAH (Joram-Koloriang road) appealed them not to create any hurdle and disturbance in the road construction works on Thursday.

Pario said that it will be a privilege for everyone to get a good road after the completation of the work, while pointing to all the development and progress that took place for a good connectivity road.

Protesting or objecting the work which is about to start soon is not appreciable one, he said, adding that every problem has a solution. He urged upon the officers present during the meeting to attend to the problems and concern raised by the land affected people at the earliest.

He also requested the DC, Kra Daadi to immediately resolve the issue so that the development work does not get disturbed from the local people. He also appealed the people to cooperate the administration for the development of the area.

Earlier on May 23, the people of Palin township including the land affected people served a ‘notice’ to the DC for stopping the ongoing construction work of Trans-Arunachal Highway in Palin township near petrol pump from May 24.

In their representations submitted to the DC on April 29 and May 23, the locals apprised him about their objection on the proposed construction of TAH in Palin township, expressing dissatisfaction on the compensation paid to the land affected people on the stretch of road from Jullang, near Petrol Pump to Dokio Longpo. It said that as many as 12 beneficiaries have not even taken their cheques (compensation amount), while 33 others were not satisfied with the compensation received by them.

The Palin Town Highway Effected Deprived Committee (PTHEDC) chairman Khyoda Anarji informed that the construction agency is going to start the construction work without marking of the exact land to be affected, adding that 33 affected people are not satisfied with the compensation they got as it does not match with the property loss. He however said, we are not against development, we want a good road.

We do want a solution which is need of the hour. We have submitted a memorandum to the DA in April and again on May 23. We want a clarification and a marking at all points of the construction of the road in the township, the PTHEDC chairman said.

He said that the affected people have not even served with any notice for eviction and demanded re-verification or else they will object to the ongoing construction work of the TAH at the point.

ZPC Rido Mena and ZPM Tarh Monica appealed the administration to look into the matter in the greater interest of the local people and need of road connectivity on the district.

DC Pige Ligu while talking to this daily said, “I am unaware of the issue. Neither the Committee members nor any victims have met me or any of the officers from district to discuss the matter.” He however said that he will call for documents and look into the matter as deem fit.
