Arunachal Pradesh Set to Celebrate “34th Statehood Day” with Home Minister Amit Shah

Itanagar, February 19, 2020:

Arunachal Pradesh is prepping up to celebrate its 34th Statehood Day on February 20 and welcome Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the special guest.

Arunachal Pradesh, which became a full-fledged state on February 20, 1987, will host Amit Shah for the first time after the Citizenship Amendment Act protests.  A slew of projects has been lined up for launch on the Statehood Day.

The Union Home Minister will be heading to the northeastern state to kickstart several prjects related to industry and roads. The state Industrial and Investment Policy, 2020, Joram Koloriang Road constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), etc. will be launched by Amit Shah.

Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju is also expected to visit his home state on the occasion of the 34th Statehood Day.

It may be mentioned here that prior to 1987, Arunachal Pradesh was known as the North East Frontier Agency (NEFA) till 1972. It gained the Union Territory status on January 20, 1972 and was renamed as Arunachal Pradesh.
