Bandh called in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lekang

Guwahati, January 13, 2019:

A 72-hour ‘bandh’ has been declared in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lekang. Lekang is located in Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district. The bandh is called seeking the permanent citizenship of those who have been residents there since independence.

Situation of unrest in the area has led to Section 144 being declared in the area. Many protestors have been arrested by authorities of Namsai. Local authorities drove protestors who were blocking roads to Assam. The protestors have continued blocking the roads even after being driven to Assam.
