Itanagar, June 9, 2019:

The body of a minor girl who died under mysterious circumstances in the house of an Arunachal Pradesh MLA on May 20 has been unearthed from a cemetery in Lakhimpur district of Assam.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the investigation by Arunachal Pradesh police, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) had recommended the exhuming of the body less than a week ago.

The 12-year-old girl was found hanging in the house of Techi Kaso, a Janata Dal (United) legislator of the Itanagar Assembly constituency. The girl belonging to the Adivasi community was from Line No. 4 of Dolahat Tea Estate in Lakhimpur district.

As per reports the body was exhumed on Saturday and has been handed to the Arunachal Police.

Moreover, it has been known that the girl was an occasional visitor to MLA Kaso’s house at Burung Basti in Naharlagun of Arunachal Pradesh. The girl’s parents had been working at the house of the MLA for the last 30 years.

NCPCR member Rosy Taba informed that the girl’s parents had accepted that their daughter had committed suicide.

The All Assam Adivasi Students’ Union (AAASU) had lodged an FIR on June 1 following a team of the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) and the NCPCR investigated the case.

Reportedly, the girl’s body was pulled down before the arrival of the police, demolished the room where she was found dead and burned the dupatta with which she was said to have killed herself. Moreover, no autopsy was performed to discover death.
