Arunachal CM dedicates 4 PSA oxygen-generating plants to service of state's people

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu dedicated as many as four pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen generation plants to the service of the state's people.

CM Khandu dedicated these PSA oxygen-generating plants via virtual mode from West Kameng district on Friday.

The oxygen generators were installed in Raga (Kamle), Hayuliang (Anjaw), Roing (Lower Dibang Valley), and the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Naharlagun, under the Prime Minister's Care Fund.

The state currently has as many as 24 functional PSA oxygen generating plants in various hospitals.

CM Pema Khandu said that the health department intends to make all proposed PSA plants in the state operational by the end of October, bringing the total number of oxygen plants in the state to 44, with a total generating capacity of 12,650 LPM.

Speaking at the event, CM khandu said,“During the second wave of the pandemic, the importance of oxygen in our fight against COVID-19 became clear. Fortunately, I was forewarned by experts and was able to prepare 100 oxygen beds prior to the resurgence of the pandemic in our state. We now have over 1,000 oxygen beds available for the needy. “We will make certain that no patient dies as a result of a lack of oxygen,” reported Arunachal Times.

The Chief Minister further stated that all of the district hospitals are being upgraded in terms of both personnel and equipment.

He urged the respective legislators and district administrations to establish a timetable and strictly monitor progress.

Alongside district hospitals, one hospital in each of the 60 assembly constituencies will be upgraded with the necessary infrastructure and equipment, CM Khandu added.

He said he have asked the legislators to identify one hospital in each of their respective constituencies, in consultation with district officials.

“Upgrading work will most likely begin this year,” he stated.
