Chinese PLA admits of finding missing Arunachal youths by their side

Finally the Chinese Peoples’ Liberation Army (PLA) have admitted that the five missing youths have been found by their side. Taking to tweeter, Union sports minister Kiren Rijiju wrote, “China’s PLA has responded to the hotline message sent by Indian Army. They have confirmed thaty the missing youths from Arunachal Pradesh have been found by their side. Further modalities to handover the persons to our authority is being worked out.”

Earlier in the day, the All Upper Subansiri District Students’ Union (AUSDSU) stated that the news about abduction of five youths by the Chinese Peoples’ Liberation Army (PLA) is not authentic. The president of AUSDSU Yade Natam in a notice stated the group of youths were actually hunters. Natam also made an appeal to all not to make avouchment without knowing the ground reality and stop spreading such fake news which may effect negative impaction upon those victim and the family.

Arunachal Pradesh Police had also admitted to the abduction of five youths of the state by the Chinese Peoples’ Liberation Army (PLA) from Sera-7 on the Indian side of the Mc Mohan line. Although there were several reports of the abduction since the incident took place on Thursday, there was no official confirmation from the State Police yet.

Taru Gussar, Superintendent of Police, Upper Subansiri district said he spoke to the family members of the five missing youths, but till date they have not lodged any formal complaint. He admitted that the incident has happened.

It may be mentioned that the PLA had reportedly abducted five villagers from Nacho, Upper Subansiri in Arunachal Pradesh. This was stated by Congress legislator Ninong Ering at first. The incident had reportedly happened at a time when India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is meeting defence ministers of Russia and China. Ering stated that China’s action have sent a very wrong message.

The five boys belongs to the Tagin community of Arunachal Pradesh. They were abducted from a jungle near Nacho while they were out for hunting. The villagers who have reportedly been abducted are Toch Singkam, Prasat Ringling. Dongtu Ebiya, Tanu Baker and Ngaru Diri. Two other villagers who had accompanied the abducted persons managed to escape.

However, on Monday China’s Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that they do not have any information about the abduction of five Indian youths. Lijian tweeted,  “China has never recognized so-called “Arunachal Pradesh,” which is China’s south Tibet region, and we have no details to release yet about question on Indian army sending a message to PLA about five missing Indians in the region: Chinese FM spokesperson Zhao Lijian.”
