Namsai Arson Case: 'Adi Mising Baane Kebang' Serves 24-hrs Ultimatum to DC

Pasighat, October 30, 2019:

The Adi Mising Baane Kebang (AMBK) from Arunachal and Assam have served an ultimatum to the Deputy Commissioner of Namsai for timely action against Thai Khamti Singpho students for burning down several houses of Adi community members.

The houses were burned at New Mabira and Old Mabira village under Namsai circle on October 12 and October 25.

While reminding the Dy. Commissioner, Bijoy Talukdar about the incidents of October 12 in which 14 houses and a Musup (community hall) belong to the Adi community, was burned down by an armed mob led by Miling Khamhiyo, the General Secretary All Tai Khampti Singpho Student Union (ATKSSU), MMolaseng Namchoom, former General Secretary ATKSSU, Mr. Shengkun Manchey, former President District Students’ Union Namsai, AMBK quoted it as humiliation to Adis and Misings.

Again, on October 25, 4 more houses and 1 shop were set afire by miscreants belonging the Thai-Khamti-Singpho communities after a rally of Adi Students’ Union was restricted by District Administration, said AMBK Secretary General, Okom Yosung who also happens to be the Secretary General of Adi Baane Kebang.

AMBK also mentioned that the AdiSU team had already informed the DC Namsai, but their request to arrest the culprits was not fulfilled. AdiSU wanted to organize a peace rally, but Namsai administration accumulated police force at Samuguri bridge and dispersed the rally.

Viewing the burning down total of 18 houses, 1 community hall and 1 shop at New Mabira and Old Mabira, the AMBK stated that it has caused "great humiliation" to the Adi Mising community.

AMBK has demanded the early arrest of all the culprits involved in burning down of the structures, the immediate reconstruction of  Musup of Mabira Village, Chowkham Circle by performing Adi rituals, provide Rs 50 lakh as compensation to the families as the cost lost of property and humiliation, regularize the land of victims family of Mabira Village and New-Mabira Village respectively and written assurance from Govt that such incidents will not happen again.

The AMBK has urged the Government of Arunachal Pradesh vide DC Namsai that, the genuine demands of AMBK be heard within 24 hours, failing which the AMBK has said that they will be compelled to opt for alternative course of action in all of Adi Mising inhabited areas in Arunachal and Assam in want of justice for the victims.
