Ninong Ering urges PM Modi to include Yobin tribe in ST list

Guwahati, Januray 5, 2019:

Member of Parliament Ninong Ering on Saturday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to revise the recent list of inclusion of tribes in the ST list to include Yobin tribe.

He said "A private members' bill on the same issue was pending from 2015. I have been repeatedly and frequently raiseing the claim to include Nocte, Tangsa, Tutsa, Wancho and Yobin through this bill. The latest decision by the cabinet includes four tribes however 'Yobin' community has been left behind. It is a very thinly populated tribe residing in isolated areas of mountainous state of Arunachal Pradesh.”

Ering also wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and asked "The Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2018, as it has been taken by the cabinet to be introduced as a Government Bill.
