National People's Party (NPP) candidate 27 Liromoba Assembly Constituency Jarpum Gamlin has condemned the killing of the party's sitting MLA Tirong Aboh and ten others (including his minor son) by militants on Tuesday.
Taking to social media platform Facebook, Gamlin condemned the "political assassination" of his colleague and sitting NPP MLA & candidate, Tirong Aboh. Adding that along with Aboh, many of his fellow travellers were assassinated, Gamlin paid his heartfelt condolences to the bereaving family members of the assassinated MLA.
Gamlin further added that this has been the worst election in Arunachal Pradesh history. This sentiment of Gamlin has been echoed by many, including the Nyishi Elite Society.
In the same post, Gamlin pointed to to the recent arrest of one contract killer, Vijay Farmaana in Lucknow/Delhi as another "low" where investigation so far has revealed that “a politician in Arunachal has paid to kill another”. Gamlin stated that although in the media, it has been stated that the politician in question hails from Nagaland, it has been confirmed from sources in New Delhi that it is, in fact, in Arunachal.
Gamlin has also requested the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary to reveal the name of the politician who paid and added that they should provide adequate security cover to the targeted leader.
"In this environment of uncertainties, most of the contesting candidates of NPP are worried for the safety and security of their lives", he added.
Meanwhile, the Army on Tuesday sprung into action and launched a massive operation in and around Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh where suspected militants ambushed the convoy of sitting MLA Tirong Aboh, killing him and 10 others, including his minor son, two personal security officers (PSOs) and some of his relatives.
