A one day career counseling cum guidance program for the students of Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat was held at college’s conference hall on Monday which was attended by local MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary for Disaster Management, Kaling Moyong as Chief Guest, AAPSU General Secretary, Tobom Dai, as Guest of Honour and ABKWW President, Yalem Taga Burang, WASE Gen. Secy. Joya Tasung Moyong and Binoimoti Modi Tayeng as invitees.
In the career counseling cum guidance program, several college students participated and the program was organized by research scholars of Rajiv Gandhi University and NERIST under the active leadership of Miyo Tayeng, Dy. Speaker and Kamin Modi, Secretary Research and Documentation, AAPSU. While addressing the students, ABK WW President, Yalem Taga Burang, WASE General Secy. Joya Tasung Moyong and Binoimoti Modi Tayeng said that, career counseling is must for intellectual growth of the students and to choose the right career. Referring to the incidents of many students getting astray into drugs and IMFL, the three women activists said that, those youths need proper career counseling and guidance. They urged the youths to be more focus on their studies or career whatever they want to choose and be a responsible citizen.
While on the part of Tobom Dai, AAPSU, General Secretary who was a student of JN College Pasighat and also been the college General Secretary, said that, students need to change the mindset which should come from within. As a future leader of the state, we students also need to be more responsible. “AAPSU is now focusing on education sector and early functionalization of full pledged Arunachal State University is our main pursuit which is almost done”, added Dai. Speaking to students, JN College Principal, M. Modi said that, taking right decision at the right time is very important no matter how talented you are. At times, we need guidance and counseling to success in our respective chosen fields, added Modi.
While MLA Kaling Moyong appreciated the effort of research scholars of RGU and NERIST for organizing such a career counseling cum guidance program. He also spoke on proper choice of career and to be specific in choosing sports as career option also, as many gets direct job due to sport quota reservation. Moyong also spoke about the developmental works initiated by Prime Minister, Narendra and Chief Minister, Pema Khandu. The college upper campus road which was built somewhere during 1963 is now going to be broaden with double lane constructions funds for which have already been sanctioned with around Rs. 6.5 Cr.
While concluding, Moyong gave 3 mantras like Wisdom, Patience and Faith to be followed by students which will shape up the career of any students in future. During technical session, Prof. Otem Padung spoke on motivation and career, abuse of drugs etc, while Ani Taggu spoke on personality development, competitive examination, youth and adolescence etc.
