Arunachal Pradesh has become the first state in India to achieve its target in the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) membership drive.
The Health and Family Welfare Minister of Arunachal, Biyuram Wahge, along with Topin Ete, MLA of Aalo West and zonal in-charge, reviewed a BJP party meeting at Kimin in the Papum Pare district.
The meeting was attended by former MLA of Doimukh, Tana Hali Tara, BJP Papum Pare district President Ngurang Logi, Taring Tiri, Panye Matang, and other senior party workers. The focus was on the poor membership drive in the 14th Doimukh Assembly constituency, which only achieved 3,724 memberships against a target of 14,500.
In contrast, Roing, Aalo West, and other constituencies successfully met their targets in the Sadasyata Abhiyan.

While the membership drive was a success across Arunachal Pradesh, the lacklustre performance in the capital district of Papum Pare has raised concerns, especially since out of the three MLAs, two are from the BJP and one from the People's Party of Arunachal (PPA). Chief Minister Pema Khandu has assigned all ministers as district in-charges for the ongoing Sadasyata Abhiyan and has directed them to initiate membership drives in all districts.
Biyuram Wahge, the Health Minister and BJP President of Arunachal addressed party workers at Kimin, emphasising the importance of the membership drive for the saffron party.
He urged party members to focus on online memberships starting from 16th October, encouraging them to refer 50 to 100 people to achieve the set targets.
Topin Ete, MLA of Aalo West and zonal in-charge of the membership drive, expressed dissatisfaction over the performance in the 14th Doimukh constituency, which only managed 3,724 memberships against a target of 14,500. He attributed this to the constituency being represented by a PPA MLA instead of a BJP MLA but remained optimistic about future improvements.
He highlighted that five districts in Arunachal had already achieved 100% of their targets and stressed the importance of focusing on online memberships after 16th October.
