In a historic step towards bridging the digital divide in remote areas, the Pipsorang Circle of Arunachal Pradesh's Kradaadi District, located near the Indo-China border, has been connected to 4G mobile services for the first time since India's Independence.
The milestone was achieved with the activation of 4G Airtel connectivity in Nyobia and 11 other villages within the Pipsorang Circle.
Jike Tako, the Advisor to the Power Minister and MLA of Tali Assembly Constituency, marked the occasion by making a live video call to Chief Minister Pema Khandu. During the call, Chief Minister Khandu extended his heartfelt congratulations to the villagers, village headmen (GBs), and Deputy Commissioner Sunny Singh for their patience and perseverance. He acknowledged the importance of this achievement in improving the region's connectivity.
This development comes as part of a broader initiative launched by the central government to enhance connectivity in border areas. A total of 254 4G mobile towers, facilitated by Airtel, have been set up to improve network coverage in 336 border locations of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. The approved project includes the installation of 2,605 4G towers, which will cater to 3,712 villages across the state. Approximately 70% of the towers have already been erected, offering critical connectivity to previously underserved regions.
Chief Minister Khandu emphasized that this achievement reflects the government's commitment, under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to ensuring inclusive and equitable development for all regions and tribes of the state. He reiterated that such initiatives are pivotal in driving development, particularly in remote and strategically important areas like Arunachal Pradesh.
