Hands Upright, Fame downright: The iconic pose of corruption

 

The Directorate Vigilance and Anti Corruption, Assam on August 18, caught an Upper Division Assistant red-handed while accepting a bribe for transferring the complaint’s service sheet and LPC.

The arrested was identified as Jatindra Nath Roy, Upper Division Assistant (UDA), posted in Hadurhat Dharmasala Higher Secondary School under Dhubri district.

The Anti Corruption Bureau team arrested the UDA red-handed on Thursday, while allegedly taking a bribe from a person inside his chamber in the school.

Assam’s Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on August 17 caught red-handed Lachit Basumatary, Block Elementary Education Officer from Rani, Kamrup (Rural) while accepting bribe. According to the Directorate, Basumatary was arrested for demanding money to complete pending work related to post-transfer at his office. Basumatary was caught red-handed in his office chamber along with the accepted bribe amount.

Officials from Assam's Vigilance and Anti-Corruption department detained the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Goalpara district's Matiya Police Station on Sunday, August 7. The arrested ASI has been identified as Sabin Pal Das. Das was apprehended while taking bribe money in the police station and action is being initiated against him.

Continuing its crusade against corrupt government officials, Assam’s Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on August 6 caught red-handed Guru Prasad Khataniar, Registrar of the Bhattadev University, in the newly-created Bajali district, while accepting a bribe. 
Dr. Guruprasad Khataniar had demanded a sum of Rs 1 lakh as bribe for releasing the bill for earth filling work at Bhattadev University by the complainant who is a contractor under PWD department. Later on, he reduced the demanded amount to Rs 50 thousand.

Continuing its drive against corruption, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption Assam along with Morigaon Police apprehended an excise officer in the Morigaon district of the state for taking bribe. The official, identified as Barsha Bora Bordoloi is a superintendent of Excise.

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption team caught a District Programme Officer of Sarva Siksha Abhijan Mission in Dhubri district red-handed as he was accepting the bribe to release the complainant's unpaid salary. The accused Azharul is the resident of Jhagrarpar P-III, Dongerpar Bazaar.
