Northeast Chief Ministers celebrates 76th Independence Day, see pics

On the occasion of 76th Independence Day, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hoisted the national flag at the Veterinary College Field in Guwahati’s Khanapara on Monday.

On this auspicious occasion of 76th Independence Day, Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu offers heartfelt greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh. "As we usher in the Amrit Kaal of our Azadi, today, we pay homage to all the freedom fighters of our country and draw inspiration from them while remembering their selfless sacrifices and heroic deeds in making Bharat Mata a free country", Chief minister stated.

Manipur celebrated its 76th anniversary of independence with pomp and splendor. Monday at the Manipur Rifles parade ground, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inspected a guard of honour and unfurled the tricolour.

Meghalaya observed the 76th Independence Day on Saturday in accordance with the rest of the nation. Conrad K. Sangma, the state's chief minister, unfurled the national flag at Shillong.

Remembering the honour of those individuals who fought and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country, Sikkim Chief Minister pledged to the people to protect the peace, harmony, and unity of our great nation and urged them to bring more glory.

Mizoram participated in today's 76th Independence Day celebrations together with the rest of the nation. The day is being honoured with patriotic fervour throughout the state. In his address, Zoramthanga said that to commemorate this monumental occasion, all Government departments are hosting a series of activities under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

At the Assam Rifles Ground in Agartala, the state's main event was held. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Shah unfurled the Indian tricolour and watched as contingents of the BSF, Assam Rifles, CRPF, Tripura State Rifles, Traffic Police, Forest Guards, NCC Cadets, NSS Volunteers, and Home Guards marched past in formation.

In the northeastern state of Nagaland, elderly Nagas fly the Naga flag and take part in celebrations marking their Declaration of Independence. The Nagas celebrated the 75th anniversary of their declaration of independence. The Nagas are indigenous people who live in several northeastern Indian states as well as across the border in Myanmar.
