1.7 Cr Bangladeshis to Enter India after CAB: Akhil Gogoi

Guwahati, November 21, 2019:

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) Chief Akhil Gogoi on Thursday informed that the organization will be launching mass protests against the Citizenship Bill on November 22. Gogoi further warned that the Bill, if enacted could open the floodgates to a Bangladeshi invasion.

Addressing the press here today, Gogoi informed that the KMSS protesters will be protesting in front of the Raj Bhavan in Guwahati, and through the Governor, will try to reach the Prime Minister and the Home Minister. Gogoi said that his organization, through a memorandum, will alert the Government to the dangers of the Bill, which, he says, could open the floodgates to a 'Bangladeshi invasion'.

Gogoi has also alleged that 20 lakh Hindu-Bengalis are likely to gain citizenship under the proposed Bill, which is likely to be introduced in the Parliament during the ongoing winter session.

Alleging that the state BJP leaders are extending their support to the Bill to save their political posts, Gogoi compared Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal and Ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chandramohan Patowary's surrender to Badan Phukan, the Ahom traitor.

It may be mentioned here that yesterday, Gogoi had alleged that the people who support the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, are not truly 'Assamese' in spirit.

Gogoi's KMSS has been protesting against the Bill ever since it was introduced in the Parliement. Earlier this year, the organization reached the power corridors of New Delhi to conduct democratic protests against the Bill. Although the Bill lapsed in the Parliament, it is likely to be re-introduced this year. .
