15 'Illegal' Bangladeshis Apprehended in Assam's Digboi

Margherita, October 12, 2019:

Fifteen 'illegal' Bangladeshi nationals were nabbed from a 'Night Service' bus in Digboi of Assam. The Bangladeshis were nabbed by activists of Asom Jatiyotabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Digboi Regional Committee today earlier today.

The bus they were nabbed from was was headed towards Arunachal Pradesh. Activists of AJYCP Digboi Regional Committee later handed over the Bangladeshi immigrants to Digboi Police.

AJYCP Tinsukia's General Secretary Kanchan Bora said that during a check up at Digboi in a night service bus, they found fifteen Bangladeshi immigrants without having any proper documents and could only speak in their mother tongue, Bengali.

The immigrants said that a certain Dalal Sultan had brought them to work at an illegal coal mine and plywood mill located at Jagun, Margherita and Arunachal Pradesh, respectively.

Kanchan Bora said that the Margherita sub-division is now full of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants working at various illegal works. He also chided Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma, the Margherita police and the Margherita administration for failing to deport these illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

"Crime rate has also seen an upsurge at Margherita Sub Division. Therefore, we demand the Margherita Administration (Civil) and Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma to immediately take stern action against the mushrooming of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants at Margherita Sub division. We demand them to deport the Bangladeshis to their country of origin, Bangladesh", said Kanchan Bora.
