The 18th Bodoland Day is underway in Assam’s Kokrajhar today to mark the signing of the second Bodo Peace Accord in 2003.
Celebrations have continued in Bodoland since the signing of the third Bodo Peace Accord between leaders of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) and central government.

Two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the grand celebrations of signing of the third Bodo Peace Accord, Kokrajhar is decked up again to observe the 18th Bodoland Day.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary and Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, Anup Chetia, NDFB(S) GS BR Ferenga NDFB (S) GS were among the ones present at the event on Monday.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal appealed all the insurgent groups in the region to lay down arms so that Assam can establish itself as a developed region. He said, “We are inviting everyone for peace talks. In Assam, we have belief that just like all the 4 factions of the NDFB signed the pact and they left the path of violence and joined the way of peace. Similarly, others should also come and join. I appeal ULFA (I), and Paresh Baruah, to join us.”
BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary said that discussions are on regarding the establishment of Engineering College. In a view of celebration of the 18th Bodoland Day at Kokrajhar, the BTC has also declared a 'Govt Holiday' at all the offices of its Entrusted Departments.

The holiday includes Educational Institutions under BTC area on 10th February, 2020. All CHDs of entrusted Departments and sub-ordinate officers/staff and Teaching and non-teaching staff of educational Institutions in BTC area are also requested to attend at the celebration programme.
