In a tragic mishap during Nepali New Year at Tenzing-Hillary Lukla airport (known as the most dangerous airport in the world), at least two people were killed and four people were injured after a Summit airplane collided with a parked Manag Air Chopper, according to sources.
According to sources, the incident took place at around 9:10 pm which is a major gateway to Mt Everest.
The injured persons have been airlifted and are undergoing treatment at Grande Hospital in Nepal capital Kathmandu.
According to airport officials, the deceased include co-pilot Sunil Dhungana and Ram Bahadyur Khadka, a Nepal police official.
The incident occurred after Summit Air aircraft with crew members on board took the wrong direction on take-off and hit the nearby parked chopper, District Police Office in Solukhumbu said. There were no crew members on board.
