GUWAHATI: A flying squad for the ensuing Assam elections today held 3 men from Nagaland with a hefty sum of cash near the Assam-Nagaland border at Mariani under Jorhat district.

According to officials, the sum was recovered from a Bolero vehicle during checking by police near the border at the New Sonowal gate, following which authorities were alerted and the trio was whisked away to the nearest police station.

The men -- originally from Tuensang district in Eastern Nagaland -- had reportedly entered via Mokokchung district.

Upon being interrogated, they revealed that they had brought the cash to buy a car from Assam. They said that they were heading to Mariani to purchase a vehicle.
