3 nominations rejected in Kokrajhar Constituency during scrutiny process

Kokrajhar, April 6, 2019:

On the day of scrutiny of nominations for the Phase-III of polls which will be held on 23 April, the Returning Officer of Kokrajhar Lok Sabha Constituency rejected 3 out of a total number of 12 nominations.

"Paresh Boro has been rejected as he has not submitted the security money of Rs. 12,500. Moreover, he submitted a blank affidavit. Mun Kumar Basumatary gave all necessary things but left many blank columns in the affidavit. Kamala Kanta Daimary did not fulfill the conditions required to contest the election from the Constituency", said the Returning Officer Partha Pratim Mazumdar.

It may be mentioned that all the high-profile candidates, including BPF's Pramila Rani Brahma, UPPL's Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Congress' Sabda Ram Rabha and sitting MP Naba 'Hira' Sarania all cleared the scrutiny process. A total of nine candidates will contest for the Lok Sabha throne from the Kokrajhar Constituency.

Rajesh Narzary: Voters' Party International

Charan Iswary: Purvanchal Janata Party (Secular)

Pramila Rani Brahma: BPF

Urkhao Gwra Brahma: United People's Party (Liberal)

Naba Kumar Sarania: Independent candidate

Ranjay Kumar Brahma: Independent candidate

Prasenjit Kumar Das: Independent candidate

Kamala Kanta Daimary: AITC or TMC

Paresh Boro: Independent candidate

Altogether 59 candidates remain in the fray in the four Lok Sabha constituencies of the State that will go to the polls in the third phase on April 23.
