3 youths from Assam stranded in Arunachal town near China border, families appeal CM Sonowal for help

MORAN: In a sensational incident, 3 youths from Moran in Upper Assam's Dibrugarh district (two drivers and a handymen of dumper vehicles) are stranded in Koloriang near Arunachal Pradesh's border with neighbouring country China for more than 18 days after they were tricked by contractors to go to the neighboring country. This came to light after the owner of the two dumpers lodged a complaint at the local police station after he was unable to contact the person who had leased out the vehicles.

A dumper vehicle bearing AS-049-BC-2800 belonging Haresh Gogoi and another new duumper vehicle without a number plate were rented by a certain Aman Kalita on November 10. Kalita had claimed that he would use the vehicles in Lakhimpur, but deceptively took them to Arunchal Pradesh.

From November 12 onwards, there was no word from the drivers and well as handymen of the vehicles.

Haresh Gogoi, the owner of the missing vehicles reached out to the officials in various districts of the state, but to no avail.

Talking to media, he said that Kalita had said that the vehicles would be used in Lakhimpur. "I received no help from the authorities. When I finally got in touch with the drivers, they said that they are being kept in Koloriang -- a town in the frontier state's Kurung Kumey district bordering Tibet. The vehicles are also there. I need help from the Government as they are now in another State."

They also tried to connect with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal via various media platforms to intimate him about the situation, but there has been no response from his end. Now, the families of the drivers and the handyman of the two vehicles have urged Gogoi, the owner, to seek the CM's intervention in the matter.

The families of the 3 missing persons -- identified as Tapan Jaradhara, Jit Bora (both drivers) and Tapan Phukan (handyman -- have expressed fear that the trio might have been killed.

The families have appealed the Chief Minister to ensure the rescue of the three stranded Assam youths from the neighbouring state.

It needs mention here that along with Aman Kalita, Lakhimpur's Amarjit Mallar, Moran's Priyamjyoti Mallar, and Taifiq Ali are believed to be responsible for the crime.
