Nagaon, October 14, 2019:

Six thugs have been arrested by Nagaon Police on Sunday night for their alleged involvement in the Petrol Pump dacoity case that took place on Vijaya Dashami, at Kathiatoli in Nagaon district of Assam.

A search operation was launched by a team of Nagaon Police led by SP Shankarbrata Rai Medhi in Chamuguri and Rupahihaat. Two motorcycles were recovered which were involved in the incident. The team also nabbed six accused along with the 7.65 MM pistol used in the firing on Kathiatoli Petrol Pump Manager and 2 live round cartridges. The pistol was purchased from Dimapur.

Addressing the Media, Nagaon SP, Shankarbrata Rai Medhi said, “I am personally supervising the investigation of the case. On interrogation, the apprehendees confessed that the entire plan was hatched by one Ellias who is an employee of the said Petrol Pump, who has already been arrested. The objective of the plan was to loot money but as the manager resisted and caught hold of the dacoit, he fired on the leg and hit the manager on his head with the pistol butt.”

The accused have been identified as Md Nuruddin (32), Md Omar Faruk (28), Md Suruj Ali (30), Md Sarabat Ali (40), Md Kitab Ali (35), and Md Jogdadul Islam (30).

On October 10, a six-member gang entered the petrol pump and demanded money to Manager Rajkumar Jain and upon resisting, he was shot by Md Jogdadul Islam. The gang took away a large sum of money with them.

A case has been registered at Nagaon Police Station with case no. 243/19. Further investigation is on.
