6 more COVID-19 deaths recorded in Assam; 639 test positive in 24 hours

GUWAHATI: Assam’s daily COVID-19 cases today surged to of 639 taking the state’s cumulative tally to 2,24,455.

On the other hand, the death count climbed to 1,135 with six more fatalities. Barpeta, Cachar, Dhemaji, Kamrup (Metro), Morigaon and Tinsukia districts recorded one death each.

Kamrup (M) recorded the highest 354 COVID-19 positive cases, followed by Kamrup with 35, Nagaon 28 and Dibrugarh 26 cases.

Currently, there are 5,268 active cases in the state. As many as 2,16,705 people have recovered from the infection so far with 159 discharged today.

As many as 23,300 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of samples tested so far has risen to 78,30,860.
