6 Truck Highjackers Arrested in Assam's Nalbari

Tihu, February 22, 2020:

Six dreaded truck highjackers, suspected of carrying out several dacoities, were nabbed by local police authorities in Tihu in Assam's Nalbari on Friday.

Last night, on receipt of a phone call from Darrang Police that a gang of truck hijackers who had done a series of incidents in Darrang and other places were travelling in a silver coloured Alto vehicle (without a number plate) and they had jumped the barriers and evaded arrest in Darrang and were on the move along the National Highway.

The officer in-charge of Ghograpar, TSI Nalbari and Officer in charge of Tihu, taking prompt action, chased and intercepted the six suspects at NH-27 near Tihu town and apprehended the miscreants and handed them over to Mangoldoi Police for further interrogation. They later confessed that they are the "main members" of the gang that has been known to cause distress to many a highway truck driver along the route.

The apprehendees have been identified as Golap Ali (26), Sultan Ali (23), Mirajul Ali (22) Kutub Ali (27), Khairul Ali (24), and Najrul Ali alias Ratul (28).
