70 Assam Orgs to protest against "Hindu Bangladeshis" in New-Delhi

Guwahati, November 17, 2018:

Just after the “Sankalp Sikha Yatra”, the 70 organizations have initiated a "Gana Satyagraha” which wilk take place in New Delhi with an indefinite hunger strike by the end of November.

Speaking to InsideNe, AATASU vice-president Basanta Gogoi said, “Although the government has given us an assurance to come up with a solution in seven days, we are not in a position to belive it. So we have decided to take up the Gana Satyagraha district wide from today and by the end of November we will stage an indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi.”

It may be mentioned that the 70 organizations led by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti and Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad initiated a protest rally “Sankalp Sikha Yatra” from Sadiya and Dhubri simultaneously that ended up in Dispur on Friday.

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader, Akhil Gogoi said that the people of Assam will throw the BJP-led government into the Brahmaputra if they pass the “anti-Assamese”Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

Speaking to InsideNE, Akhil Gogoi said, “The 1.9 crore Hindu Bangladeshis that will come to Assam after the Bill is passed will destroy the Assamese cultures and bring the Assamese language to a stage of extinctions. No one in the state should support the bill and each responsible Assamese should press the government to dump the bill.”

Gogoi added, “In order to let the government know that the people of Assam stand united against the anti-Assamese bill, we organised the Sankalp Sikha Yatra. The government even tried to obstruct the protest by imposing section 144 CrPC but they failed as a massive number of people came to protest against the government’s step to bring in more Hindu Bangladeshis.”

Gogoi further said that the government has completely failed as they did not stand to their commitments they made to the people of Assam.

He stated, “The government must withdraw the bill or else they will face the wrath of the people. We will  throw the government into the Brahmaputra if they pass the bill. The government needs to know that the Hindu Bangladeshis won’t Assam by any means.”
