73% voters turn out to decide fate of 50 candidates in Assam

Guwahati, April 19, 2019:

An overall turnout of 73.32% of votes has been recorded in the Phase-II of the Lok Sabha elections in Assam till 5 pm on Thursday despite EVM glitches and many other problems plaguing the voters across the state.

The final numbers are expected to be revealed on Friday evening after the polling parties return to their respective district headquarters.

Of the 8,992 polling stations in the five constituencies in the state, 1,033 are in remote areas.

Out of the five constituencies, Nagaon recorded the highest polling percentage till 5 pm with 75.71%.

It may be mentioned that weather, which was inclement during the last few days, improved significantly during polling day.

The polling records of all five Constituencies of the state are as follows:

Karimganj: 71.41%

Silchar – 71.79%

Autonomous Council– 69.51%

Mangaldoi – 75.07%

Nagaon – 75.71%
