88-year-old Homen Borgohain tests COVID-19 positive; shifted to GMCH

GUWAHATI: Eminent litterateur Homen Borgohain has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus in the second wave of the pandemic in Assam, reports said.

He has been shifted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati for his treatment.

Borgohain was also the president of the apex literary body Assam Sahitya Sabha.

The 88-year-old Borgohain is currently working as the editor-in-chief of Assamese daily Niyomiya Barta.

Borgohain was awarded the 1978 Sahitya Akademi Award in the Assamese language for his novel Pita Putra. Borgohain also wrote several novels, short stories, and poetry.
