The All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) has decided to stage a series of protests in the coming days against National Register of Citizens (NRC) state coordinator Prateek Hajela’s alleged move to drop five important documents from the modalities.

In a recent report submitted to the Supreme Court, Hajela had purportedly suggested that ten documents out of list “A” documents could be relied upon or introduced afresh by any claimant following his or her claim for inclusion of name in the NRC.

Criticizing the move, the AAMSU said it would stage a two-hour-long protest demonstration in all district and sub-divisional headquarters on September 10. Later on September 16, the organisation will stage a similar protest at Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati.
