AASU to approach Supreme Court if CAB is passed

Guwahati, February 12, 2019:

The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has declared that it will take matters to the Supreme Court if the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 is passed at the Rajya Sabha today. The Bill will be the third Bill that shall be taken up for consideration at the Rajya Sabha today as Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will move the Bill.

Meanwhile, NESO delegates led by AASU Chief Advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya are lobbying support among the NDA’s opposition as well as allies in order to vote against the Bill.

It is to be mentioned that the Bill needs a 2/3rd majority in order for it to become an Act.
