The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has won the post of General Secretary of Gauhati University on Wednesday.
The BJP wing also won four seats, along with the Cultural Secretary post.

ABVP candidate, Moon Talukdar is the new GS of Gauhati University. Additionally, Saurav Saha, Champak Bora and Khwrwmdao Basumatary have won the secretarial positions of Cultural, Gymnasium and Sports.
All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has swept the PGSU elections of the University by winning ten out of the fifteen posts, including the president and vice president.
Meanwhile, one seat was won by Students Federation of India (SFI).

As many as 32 candidates had filed nominations for the 15 posts.
AASU Anurag Kalyan Borgohain has been elected as president and Lakhyajit Das was elected as vice-president.
The other elected members are Trishna Barman as assistant general secretary, Aprim Kumar Bora(SFI) as literary secretary, Silpika Madhukalya as music secretary, Gitashree Borah as debate and symposia secretary, Nasir Mirza as Boys' common room secretary, Sagarika Kalita as Girls' common room secretary, Jubin Muktiar as major Games Secretary and Farny Ahmed as the social service secretary.
Nabankur Saikia was elected uncontested to the post of minor games secretary.
This year, the voting turnout was 64.97.
