After Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) decided to reduce the syllabus for the Higher Secondary final year students for the 2020-2021 academic year by 30% due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on Sunday it published the topics which have been omitted from the Political Science paper.
The omitted topics include, inter-alia, India and the Cold War, Dominance and challenge to the US in economy ideology, Conflicts and efforts for peace in South Asia and Politics of disarmament.

From the ‘Politics in India Since Independence’ section, First three general elections, Nehru’s approach to nation-building, Nehru’s foreign policy, Punjab crisis and the anti-Sikh riots of 1984 and Ayodhya dispute, Gujarat riots have been left out this year, among others.
Earlier, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) had decided to reduce 30 percent syllabus of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations for 2021 in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.All the schools will get the new syllabus in PDF format on Tuesday next. On the other hand, syllabus for class nine students will also be reduced by 30 per cent.
Earlier, Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) had reduced 30 per cent of the syllabus for higher secondary second year students.
It may be mentioned that all the schools, both government as well as private have remained closed since March this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.The Assam government is contemplating to open school for the students of class 9, 10, 11 and 12 from October 1. This was stated by state Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. However, informal classes for higher secondary second year and undergraduate final year will start from September 15. On the other hand, teachers will have to attend school from September 1. Sarma stated that the directives will be the same both for private as well as government educational institutes.
