GUWAHATI: Asian Institute of Management and Technology (AIMT) on Tuesday organised an interactive session with eminent Journalist Manjit Mahanta and Jayanta Kumar Goswami, Founder of Vision Max on the occasion of National Press Day.

Emphasizing on the needs to be responsible towards the society as a journalists, Department of Mass Communication, AIMT organised a session to discuss on the topic- Freedom of Press and responsibility towards society.

The veteran Journalists were felicitated by Prasant Singh, President of Gyanjyoti Foundation.

Speaking on the occasion Manjit Mahanta focused on the need for ‘honesty and transparency’.

Jayanta Kumar Goswami highlighted on the "lmportance of press as fourth pillar of democracy"

The Department also organised a talk show on "Role of Press during COVID-19" by budding journalists, alumni of the department itself where newly engaged journalists Gaurav Dey NLTV, Martina Chatria, Reporter Axom, Ekta Chaubey Sangbad live and Rohit Ray D news participated in the session, moderated by Kasturi Nath, Student of Mass communication.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks offered by Sumi Sharma, acting HoD, Department of Mass Communication.
