GUWAHATI: Nizamuddin Choudhury, Algapur MLA from All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), has allegedly forcefully taken out two suspected land dalals (brokers or middlemen) - Saraf Uddin Barbhuyan and Anowar Uddin Laskar - from Algapur Police Station this evening arrested by the police last night.
However, police did not agree upon those claims and said there was no concrete evidence against the accused.
"We have let them go as it was not established yet whether they are land dalals or not. They only do works related to landfilling and in Hailakandi five such arrests have been made out of 12. Since we could not frame any prima facie ground against them we let them go," said Gaurav Upadhyay, Hailakandi Superintendent of Police, speaking with the media persons.

"We have just started a massive drive against such dalals from today. Whosoever we have arrested so far will be taken into remand again for a proper investigation and to meet a legal conclusion," Upadhyay added.
MLA Nizamuddin Choudhury and his supporters have given two suspected dalals a red carpet welcome after taking them out of jail and also facilitated them with flower garlands.
Now the question arises if police had no strong evidence to keep them in custody then on what ground they have made as many as 453 arrests last night or just they had to leave these two suspected dalals due to get pressurised by the MLA.
Any of the cases seem an utter failure of the state police force and contradiction to the Assam Chief Minister's claims.
