Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) General Secretary Palash Changmai has announced to stage a ‘Padayatra’ (street-march) across the state of Assam from January 26. On January 30, the organization will stage protest in demand of Inner Line Permit, scrapping of amendment of Citizenship Bill and dual citizenship and on February 7, the organization will participate in train blockade.
Slamming the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) over its provoking remarks, Changmai asked, “Who has given the RSS workers the right to initiate movement with weapons in the state? And what contributions have the RSS made in Assam? We all are ready to face them.”
Changmai added, “There is an internal race going on between CM Sarbananda Sonowal and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to pacify the BJP-led central government in order to retain their positions. He is not standing by the Axomiya people.”
He added, “We support the six communities demand of granting ST status to six indigenous communities of Assam and urge the Asom Gana Parishad to stand against the Bill.”
