JORHAT: Sivasagar MLA and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) founder Akhil Gogoi's mother Priyada bawled her eyes out as her son prepared to leave for Guwahati to continue his incarceration.
Gogoi, who reached his ancestral home in Jorhat district's Selenghat to precious moments with his 84-year-old mother who has not been doing too well, was brought back to jail today as his 48-hour parole period ran out.
Priyada, naturally distraught, was seen crying while people tried to console her saying that it is only a matter of time until Akhil, who was arrested by police, is a free man again.
Before leaving, Akhil embraced his mother for a single time as those who had gathered in the household to bid adieu to the fiery leader raised cries of 'Joi Aai Axom.'
Talking to media persons earlier today, Gogoi revealed that he ate and slept with his mother but there was a bit of inconvenience due to a power outage.
Earlier today, the peasant rights’ activist met the locals of his native village who showered him with immense love and warmth.

Gogoi, who has been in jail for the last 18 months, was allowed by a court to step out of the jail on parole to visit his mother and teenage son.
Gogoi’s lawyer Shantanu Borthakur asked for parole after his 14-year-old son contracted COVID-19 and his 84-year-old mother –who suffers from diabetes — has not been keeping well at all.
The 45-year-old chief of the Raijor Dal, a political party that he founded while in custody, was arrested in December 2019 for his alleged role in the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests.
After getting parole, Gogoi was seen sharing warm moments with his wife and son at his Guwahati residence. The MLA was seen brimming with happiness as he shared a traditional Assamese meal with his family.
A police team has escorted Gogoi and will bring him back after the visit is over.
