All districts alerted on ‘Cash for Marks’ scam: Assam police

GUWAHATI: After four officials of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA ) were apprehended in a 'cash for marks' scam on Saturday, Hitesh Ch. Ray, Superintendent of Police of  Kamrup (R) district,  said that all districts of Assam have been alerted on the matter to ensure that the results of class 10 and class 12 would be declared using the Assam government's evaluation methodology.

Ray said," Acting on a tip-off, our police team launched a raid at four places of Office of the Inspectorate of Schools, Dakkhin Hati, Kamalpur and Karara, and apprehended one Inspector of Schools, one data operator of the office, a headmaster, and a principal for interrogation.”

Later, Akkas Ali, Principal of Majortop Higher Secondary School, and Prashanta Das, data operator of the Inspectorate of Schools were arrested by the police.

"We also seized several laptops, documents from the office," he added.

The Kamrup® Police has registered a case at the Changsari Police Station in this connection.
