All-Party-Representative Team takes stock of ‘Hooch Tragedy’ in Assam

Golaghat, March 1, 2019:

A team of All Party Representative under the supervision of Vidhan Sabha speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami visited Golaghat to take account of the hooch tragedy where 185 people, mostly belonging to tea tribes, were taken ill and died after consuming local ‘sulai’ liquor.

The team will be taking all important accounts of the hooch tragedy in Assam’s Golaghat district.

The All Party Representative team consists of Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia, Minister of Tea Tribe welfare Pallab Lochan Das, AGP president Atul Bora, Congress MLA Rockybul Hussain, as well as senior politicians Ajanta Neog, Rupjyoti Kurmi, Teras Gowala, Roselina Tirki, Sonjay Kishan, Mrinal Saikia, Rituparna Baruah, Bimal Bora, Debanand Hazarika, Ramendra Narayan Kalita, and AIUDF leader Aminul Islam.

The team will visit the Salmara Tea Garden and take the necessary accounts pertaining to the issue. Vidhan Sabha speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami has also appealed to the Govt that no such incidents should take place in the near future.

Meanwhile, the representative team has decided to give a sum of Rs. 2-10 lakh Ex Gratia to the family of the deceased.
