GUWAHATI: Bhasco de Saikia, Working President of the newly-floated political party 'Raijor Dal', has opined that the Congress party will be "definitely hurt" by its alliance with the Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).
Saikia, talking to Inside Northeast, said that the Grand Old Party will be hurt by its alliance with the AIUDF "as the people of Assam will never accept the party's hobnobbing with a communal party."
"We consider the AIUDF as a communal party; therefore, we will never enter into an alliance with a party that has ties to a party that has links to communal forces," said Bhasco, adding, "If we consider the BJP a threat and want to send it packing from Assam, we also look at the AIUDF in the same way."

The 'Raijor Dal' leader has further asserted that his party is looking to cement ties with the AJP ahead of the polls in the State. AJP president Lurin Jyoti Gogoi has also welcomed the prospects of an alliance, stating that "it is only a matter of time."
It needs mention here that the 'Raijor Dal' was launched on 2 October 2020 in Assam. It came into existence following differences between the peasant leader and RTI activist Akhil Gogoi and ruling party BJP in Assam.
Gogoi, meanwhile, still finds himself behind bars following his arrest during the agitation against the Citizenship Amendment Act. The peasant leader will be contesting the polls from Sivasagar and Teok Constituencies.
Meanwhile, the Congress and AIUDF have joined hands to offer an alternative to the ruling BJP in the state. Congress and the AIUDF, along with four other political parties, declared the formation of a 'Grand Alliance' on Tuesday.
In a joint press conference held in Guwahati, the leaders of Congress, AIUDF, CPI, CPI (M), CPI (ML) and Anchalik Gana Morcha said all six political parties have decided to form a 'Grand Alliance' for the greater interest of the people of the state and to "save Assam".
