Amid Peace Talk Murmurs, ULFA (I) Overground Worker Nabbed in Assam's Moran

Moran, March 9, 2020:

In Assam's Moran, security forces on Sunday nabbed an overground worker belonging to the United Liberation Front of Asom. No. 9 Rajputana Rifles arrested the cadre in Tiloi Nagar, which falls under the Moran Police Station.

The cadre has been identified as Abhijeet Chetia. Official reports state that for a long time, the overground worker had been interacting with the dreaded ULFA (I) leader Abhijit Asom via social media and mobile phone. In the meantime, the Moran Police Station has filed cases against him under relevant sections of the law.

This development comes amid murmurs that the insurgent outfit is soon going to sign a peace Accord with the Government, fresh after the inking of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). At a time when the Government and the pro-talks faction of the ULFA are gearing up to sign the final ULFA accord and speculations are rife whether Commander in Chief, Paresh Baruah, will be a part of these discussions
