KOKRAJHAR: Posters of Union Home Minister Amit Shah were torn in BTR's Kokrajhar ahead of his visit to the Assam town to mark the completion of 1 year of signing the 3rd Bodo Accord.

Interestingly, massive posters welcoming Amit Shah to Kokrajhar town were torn down less than 200 meters away from the residence of former Council Chief Hagrama Mohilary.

Newly-elected BTC Chief Pramod Boro, taking an indirect jab at Mohilary vandalism, said, "There are some elements in society who have been doing these things. These people have a sick mentality and are not even worthy of being condemned. Let us warn the people who have propagated a 'politics of fear' that their days of doing such things are over. My government will crack down against these miscreants."

Shah arrived in Guwahati in the early hours of Saturday, where he will launch the Ayushman Bharat healthcare scheme for central paramilitary force personnel in presence of Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan.

Shah will then reach Meghalaya to chair the plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) to be held in Shillong on the same day.

On Sunday, Shah will return to Assam and attend the programme to celebrate the first anniversary of the signing of the Bodoland Territorial Region Accord at Kokrajhar.

The Home Minister will also address a BJP rally at Kendukuchi in Nalbari district of Assam where the assembly election is due in March-April.
