Angarag 'Papon' Mahanta takes first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Popular Bollywood playback singer Angarag ‘Papon’ Mahanta on Thursday took his first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at the Health City Hospital in Guwahati, Assam.

Papon was accompanied by his wife Shweta Mishra Mahanta, who also took her first dose of the vaccine.

Papon who lives in Mumbai, flew to Guwahati to cast his vote in the third and final phase of Assam Assembly Elections.

He exercised his right to franchise at the Gauhati East constituency.

It needs mention here that the active cases of COVID-19 in the state post the recently concluded assembly elections have witnessed a massive surge since April 7.

Assam reported 281 positive fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday.

There are 153 positive cases in Guwahati, 12 in Nagaon, 11 in Jorhat and 10 in Sonitpur.

Three deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.

On other hand, the cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in India crossed 9.43 crore on Friday.
