GUWAHATI: 'Raijor Dal', the regional power planning to contest the Assembly, will float its most high-profile candidate -- peasant leader Akhil Gogoi -- from the Sivasagar Constituency in Upper Assam.
Gogoi, who is currently awaiting bail, is also likely to contest from Mariani -- currently a Congress stronghold.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court denied bail to Gogoi, who is lodged in a Guwahati jail for his alleged role in the violent anti-CAA protests in Assam.
A bench of justices N V Ramana, Surya Kant, and Aniruddha Bose dismissed Gogoi's bail plea, saying, "We will not consider the petition at this stage."
