Guwahati, January 30, 2020:

Gauhati University students staged a protest against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act amid Saraswati Puja celebrations across Assam.

The RCC 2 hostel borders of Gauhati University prepared a map of Assam and captioned it as ‘Axomr Uporot Soku Nidibo’ (Don’t look at Assam) and also prepared effigies with posters having different slogans in it. The students also displayed a photo board having pictures of the moments of CAA protests in Assam carried out since the Act was amended.

Meanwhile, Cotton University students also staged a protest against CAA amid the Saraswati Puja celebrations.

In Cotton University, Goddess Saraswati was dressed in a pair of “Mekhela Chadar” and the Assamese ‘Gamusa’ wrapped around the neck with a black badge that reads “NO CAA”.

It is to be mentioned here that the people here in Assam have been continuously protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in all the occasions and festivals.
