APCC President Ripun Bora to be Changed Soon?

Guwahati, September 16, 2019:

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President, Ripun Bora might soon be removed from the presidential post.

There have been several discussions in New Delhi over the past few days.

A highly placed source said that he might soon be changed as State Presidents of Haryana and Jharkhand have already been changed. Members of the APCC are also holding several meetings in this regard with Sonia Gandhi.

The Congress is also currently in discussions for an alliance with some regional and left parties in Assam for the upcoming Assembly elections in 2021.

It may be mentioned here that Ripun Bora became the state president in 2016. He is also a Rajya Sabha MP as well as a former Minister.

Over the past few days, there have been multiple riffs between the members of the Assam Pradesh Congress.

It may be mentioned that earlier Bollywood actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar resigned from the Congress party in Maharashtra.

Urmila Matondkar resigned from the Congress merely five months after she had joined the party in March, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The 44-year-old actor had unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha elections from Mumbai North seat as a Congress candidate.

As per reports, the resignation came after no action was taken regarding her letter in which she had criticized close aides of senior party leader Sanjay Nirupam.

Urmila Matondkar had joined the Congress in March.
