Addressing the media, Abbhijeet Sharma said this is very unfortunate that foreigners have managed to get their names registered in the NRC draft and if no objections are filed against them, the process of updating NRC will not be error free.

It is to be mentioned that the APW president has informed the Supreme Court about the forging of legacy data in 22 districts of the state including Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Karimganj Lakhimpur, etc. He demanded re-examination NRC draft in these areas. Following this, the apex court has ordered NRC state co-ordinator Prateek Hajela the re-examine 10 percent sample of the drafts and submit reports on it.

However, the APW president said he is unaware of the fact that whether any report is being submitted by the NRC authorities to the court. He further mentioned that the APW is going to appeal to the apex court to give importance to the examination of 10 percent sample of the NRC.

He also appealed the Assam government and the Chief Minister to take necessary steps regarding the revision of these 10 percent sample data.
