The flood situation in Assam continues to wreak havoc in the state and has affected over 53 lakh people so far.
Following this, a large scale Flood Relief Operation is underway in flood-hit areas of Lower Assam by Indian Army Troops since June 11, 2019.
The intensified downpour has triggered deluge in all districts of Lower Assam, disrupting the normal life. Till date, a total of six requisitions for provision of Army assistance have been received from Civil Administration. Accordingly, units have executed the Disaster Relief Tasks on a war footing in Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Dhekiajuli, and Morigaon districts.

The rescue columns, despite heavy rains, are operating round the clock in the flood-affected areas. In the last six days, a total of 488 civilians have been evacuated along with relief to 450 civilians.

it is to be mentioned that as per the latest reports disclosed by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), as on 18 July 2019, a total 4,128 villages in 103 revenue circles of 28 districts Viz. Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Udalguri, Baksa, Barpeta, Nalbari, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Majuli, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar, and Karimganj of Assam have been affected in the Flood. Approximately 53,52,107 people have been affected.
